How to Generate Confidence and Flow Working from Home

Doing and Being

How do I keep my spirits up and stay motivated while working from home and in quarantine here in New Jersey, USA, and most of the planet?

Here’s a simple and immediate tool I use to get a boost and surge of positive energy, confidence, and resourcefulness.

Since starting my business almost four years ago, I’ve been working primarily from home. Before that, I worked full-time in an office for over 25 years in financial services and technology. So, imagine what that transition would have been like had I not known what structures help me thrive.

During the last decade of my corporate career, I got up at 5 AM, commuted for over 1.5 hours, worked out, started my business day, met my work friends for a walk or talk at lunch, served my clients, commuted back home, took care of my family, studied, went to bed, and repeat.

Laying out my day was beneficial and productive for me. I knew what to expect, and focusing helped me feel good and got me through the day, accomplishing the things that I wanted to get done for myself, on behalf of my team, my organization, and loved ones.

Since the first day of starting my business, I’ve been following a similar ritual, minus the commute! Which I don’t miss in the least.

Now, every workday, I wake up around 5:30 AM, do my Inspired Morning Practice, including meditation. I train via FB live with my gym buddies, shower, dance to my favorite tunes, get dressed, put my face on (AKA makeup), prepare my breakfast, and off to work in my home office I go!! I treat my home business as if I were working for someone else, in someone else’s office, except that it is all mine!

The simple act of following a daily ritual that empowers me, getting ready, dressed, and putting on my face motivates me. It launches me into a growth mindset to be productive, peaceful, and to attain the results I target with flow and ease.

Your Action Steps

So, my insight for you today is this, get up and get ready for your day, and do what makes you feel terrific throughout the day.

And if you are skeptical, do your research. Try it for 2-3 days and notice what happens—how you show up to your work and how you feel throughout the day.

If you see an improvement, then continue, and if you don't, now you know! That is what we call pleasure research my friends, as one of my mentors, Regina Thomashauer, calls it! This simple approach also helps you to develop a growth mindset. Without it, you won't be receptive to trying new things and pivoting accordingly. And how useful would that skill be during these challenging times? Food for thought.

Are you up for it? Let me know in the comments!

To support you with some ideas for a new morning ritual that’s empowering, I’m entrusting you with my Inspired Morning Practice. Enjoy.

Stay safe and healthy, physically, emotionally, and spiritually.

Lots of love 💕

Ginny
